maternal transferance?

Why have I suddenly started pining for a dog? I generally do not like animals.
I am done having kids and every once in a while I mull over that thought and feel really sad inside.

My husband is gloating.

Jason was one of the first ones to get an Android phone. He had read about it and just new that it was going to kick-ass.
Now the techno-geeks of the blogosphere are increasingly confirming Androids superiority over iPhone.
And my husband...who took the techy road less traveled....is vindicated.
Cheers to you honey. You win at geekiness.

update posts are hard to title in a witty way

music: Bob Dylan - Gotta Serve Somebody
-I am now the proud owner of a YMCA membership. It's for 3 months because we managed to get a grant that pays 50% of the fee. I am really excited about trying out a spinning class and getting back into weight lifting. When I am buff I get to eat a lot more. :)
-I have been listening to a lot of podcasts while I try to catch up on my housework (I got sick and let it slip). I can't help but notice that a lot of the ladies on Focus on the Family have distinctly very feminine way of speaking. It kinda drives me nuts...because women I know in real life just don't talk in that disney-princess-super-soft-spoken kinda way. Do they do that on purpose or are they just like that?
-Why is it that when my husband is gone for the night I can't seem to get the kids to go to bed?

House episode (spoilers ahead)
Nov. 18th, 2009 | 01:04 am
This weeks House seemed like it could have been inspired by The Makers Diet, which is a nutrition book told authored by a guy who claims to have cured his near-deadly bout with Crohn's disease through the use of soil organisms. In the episode a porn star nearly dies from Crohn's after being treated for sexually transmitted worms. Turns out the worms were keeping his disease in check. Another interesting tidbit the show presented was that living in an exceptionally clean atmosphere (such as the one the porn star was raised in) makes us more prone to diseases like Crohns and certain autoimmune disorders.
It is something to think about.

over-stimulation
Nov. 16th, 2009 | 09:52 am
Mental health experts say that information technology is addictive and can harm relationships.
Thats kinda obvious, but I admit that it took me a long time to realize I can't be driven towards mental stimulation and still function at the level I want to in my relationships. I have to focus entirely on my intentions in the moment. If my intention is to spend time with family or do housework then there isn't any room for checking my email or text messages.

They smiled at the good and frowned at the bad

Good:
-Jason has no more lumps on his neck and may be nearing the end of his chemo treatments.
-ADRIAN IS READING
-We switched Joan to a pre-K at a Catholic school and she is already developing pre-reading skills.
-Clara is starting to talk and Luke is speaking clearly and conversationally.
Progress:
-Our diet. We have eliminated 90% of the non-organic meats and are eating more and more high-quality meals. I am struggling to figure out lunch solutions that don't depend on lunch meat sandwiches but that Jason will eat. He isn't a hummus and carrots kinda guy.
-Chores. I am going to bed with the dishes done and the clothes set out most nights...but I still need to try harder at making the kids keep their room clean and getting the laundry folded daily.
Things that annoy me:
-HOMEWORK
-hardwater stains in toilets
-trying to stay awake past 9 when I wake up at 5:30
-the kids constantly fighting

lazy-ass homo beetles
Nov. 9th, 2008 | 09:52 pm
The team also found that if one male leaked semen on another male and the semen-covered male later bred with a female, the female's eggs could become fertilized with the sperm of the male she had never encountered.
That a male could inseminate a female without directly breeding with her came as a big surprise.
It reveals that the flour beetles' homosexual behavior yields a direct reproductive benefit, allowing males to inseminate females without expending time or energy having sex with them.
